Problem

Pennsylvania DOT needed to fix an aging asphalt road due to significant cracking. SR19 is a two lane road that has moderate to heavy traffic on a typical day.

Solution

PETROMAT® Plus-White was selected because the customer needed a product that could be installed on a milled surface. Plus-White can be installed directly on a milled surface, unlike fiberglass products that can rupture on coarse milled surfaces. Plus-White also ensures consistent installation day or night and in any climate. It is designed with light reflective properties to remain up to 50° F cooler than dark paving fabric. This minimizes tack bleed through and creates a cooler work environment.

Performance

The installation of 25,000 square yards completed in June. Installers commented that the PETROMAT® Plus-White not only kept the jobsite cooler, but the rolls were cooler and easier to handle than traditional dark paving fabric. Overall the installation was complete in several hours, cutting down on construction time and labor costs.
