Photo showing severe erosion due to storm-related flows and capacity constraints.

Neighborhood ditches and storm water channels were pushed to the limit after Tropical Storm Fay swept through in Tallahassee, FL. The result was unsightly erosion that needed a quick solution to resolve. A drainage improvement project was approved and the Leon County Public Works Department in Tallahassee made use of a Community Development block Grant (CDBG) to fund the improvements in the area. Public Works engineers needed a channel near Bright Drive to withstand major rainfall events but wanted something less expensive and more aesthetically pleasing than riprap and concrete ditch lining.

ARMORMAX® 75 Engineered Earth Armoring Solution™ was the right product for the job with quick installation and immediate protection against further erosion. Over 4,000 yards of ARMORMAX was installed in less than three days.

ARMORMAX® 75 reingorces vegetation and promotes sustainable aquatic habitats so vegetation was established rapidly, giving the community a natural channel to prevent flooding and erosion.
