Problem

The land side of the dam on Greenbier Lake was experiencing a shallow plane slope failure due to surface saturation from severe rain events. The slope had a height of approximately 37 feet and the slope was graded to a gradient of 2.5H:1V.

Solution

ARMORMAX Earth Armoring Solution was used to mitigate surficial slope instability and prevent future sloughing and erosion. The ARMORMAX system is composed of High Performance Turf Reinforcement Mat (HPTRM) and Engineered Earth Anchors™. For this project, six foot B2 anchors were used. The installation took five days to complete.

Solution

Performance

The ARMORMAX system improved the factory safety and significantly reduced the probability of future failure. ARMORMAX also provided a fully vegetated solution to compliment the natural beauty of the lake.
