Photo showing erosion jeopardizing environment and project to build Wal-Mart near the Clear Creek stream in Carson City, Nevada.

Douglas County's premier Wal-Mart development site is located adjacent to a natural field owned by the Paiute Indian Tribe and the environmentally sensitive Clear Creek stream in Carson City, Nevada. Throughout the design and construction phase of the project, Wal-Mart was faced with the potential for hefty environmental penalties.

Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. and Wal-Mart chose to use PYRAMAT® high performance turf reinforcement mat (HPTRM) to armor their steep slopes and protect and maintain usable property because of its ability to blend in with the native soil and vegetation, while offering a high strength permanent erosion control solution.
