Erosion and scour of the Manitou Court Streambank in Westport, CT was threatening damage to the structural foundation of the residents at the top of the slope. They needed a product that would not only protect the residents’ property, but would also provide a green solution for the bank.

ARMORMAX® Engineered Earth Armoring Solutions™ was the system chosen as it could prevent further erosion of the slope and also vegetate the bank. ARMORMAX is composed of High Performance Turf Reinforcement Mats (HPTRMs) and Engineered Earth Anchors™ (EEA) that work together to lock soil in place and protect against hydraulic stresses.

The system encourages dense vegetation providing an aesthetically pleasing look to the streambank while also stabilizing the slope. More than 2,298 square yards of the product was installed along the bank, which provided permanent protection against any further erosion.
