The owner of Mountain Trails West Subdivision was unsure if the residential development would be profitable given its limited amount of developable area. An adjacent development included a large riprap rock drainage channel that required a significant amount of land, and was not aesthetically pleasing.

For the Mountain Trails development, the design engineer chose ARMORMAX® 75 combined with gabion drop structures to provide erosion and scour protection of the perimeter drainage channel.

The systems reduced drainage roughness coefficients decreased the land area needed for the perimeter drainage channel, which yielded significantly more residential unit development. Additionally, it provided an aesthetically pleasing vegetated drainage solution in which a walking path was incorporated.
