Snoqualmie Falls Bank Stabilization
Overview
Location: Snoqualmie, WA
Project Type: Shoreline & Waterways
Application: Riverbank Stabilization
Product Used: ARMORMAX
Problem
In 2009, Puget Sound Energy began a comprehensive upgrade of the hydroelectric infrastructure at Snoqualmie Falls – a power generation facility built in 1890. Loose soils and heavy rainfall contributed to a landslide along the Snoqualmie River bank in the Fall of 2010, and geotechnical engineers was commissioned to provide a long-term design solution.
Solution
ARMORMAX® 75 was used to stabilize the bank in 2013, and a full array of native vegetation was designed as a natural solution to stabilize the bank.
Performance
ARMORMAX will provide permanent erosion protection for up to 75 years, outlasting other slope reinforcement methods.
