Railway Construction & Ballast Stabilization
Roadways, Rail & Bridges/Railway Construction & Ballast Stabilization
Ballast fouling, or contamination, is a leading cause of track failures. Fouling can occur when the subgrade strength is exceeded by track loads. Using a geotextile in railway construction provides permanent separation of the sub-ballast from the subgrade. This helps stabilize tracks, especially over weak sections, and works to extend overall track life. Additionally, geotextiles can be used in subsurface drainage systems as an alternate for a sand filter, preventing fine soils from clogging drains.
