Unpaved Roads
Roadways, Rail & Bridges/Unpaved Roads
According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), 35 percent of roadways in the United States are unpaved. One of the greatest challenges in unpaved roads is maintaining the integrity of unbound aggregate support layers by minimizing the potential for contamination from upward migration. Testing has found nonwoven and woven geotextiles to be an extremely effective and low cost solution to the contamination problem. Using a geotextile in unpaved roads helps to mitigate dust and decreases future maintenance.
