Problem
The Redcliffe Golf Club is a picturesque 18 hole Championship Golf Course, located west of Medicine Hat. In 2008, The Town of Redcliff planned to build several ponds at the course to provide storm water detention and irrigation support. Original design included rock riprap along the slopes of the pond to protect from wave erosion and water level fluctuation.
Solution
Propex offered a value engineered solutions with ARMORMAX® Engineered Earth Armoring Solution that was more cost effective and offered improved environmental performance. ARMORMAX is engineered to lock seeds and soil in place to promote rapid root development for long-term vegetation.
Performance
The result is a natural look versus the hard and colorless appearance of riprap. Today, this project has successfully withstood more than a decade of Canadian winters, including numerous freeze/thaw cycles.
